Tulsi is worshipped as a holy plant in Indian culture and for the rest of the world its works as a major ingredient in finding a cure for various medical conditions. Ayurveda uses Tulsi to prepare medicine because it is a great source of vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, Zinc, Iron, and Chlorophyll that can be extracted from its leaves and stems. Tulsi can acts as a purifying agent due to its anti-bacterial properties and its leaves are used to purify contaminated water. Scientific studies also provide evidence that it is capable enough to cure fever, relieve pain, purify the blood, boost immunity, etc. The most commonly used tulsi has been listed below along with its benefits.   • Vanatulsi is mostly found in India, Srilanka, northern and eastern parts of Africa.
  • VanaTulsi is a perennial plant and falls under the Ocimumgratissimum species. This is different from Rama and Krishna Tulsi and mostly known as African Tulsi.
  • As per Indian culture, Vana tulsi is used in spiritual practices and it is a ceremonial plant.
  • Vanatulsi is highly aromatic, slightly hairy green leaves with a strong clove scent and spicy flavor.
  • Vanatulsi needs sunny and dry conditions to grow and can easily survive except the conditions like frost.

  • Amrita Tulsi is lesser-known but has similar benefits as Rama, Krishna and VanaTulsi.
  • This plant is difficult to kill and can grow in any environment as per its name Amrita which means immortal and cannot be easily destroyed.
  • This plant has green leaves and a purple stem.

As we all know that people are more relying on western medicines for cure due to its instant relief feature but nothing in the world comes with side effects and the same thing applies with all sorts of medicines. The only reason behind this statement is to make you people realise the importance of ayurvedic medicine and when it comes to Ayurveda then Tulsi comes on the top due to its medicinal properties. Below are the lists of benefits that are commonly known to all but least applied across the world.

Clean Skin:

Prepare a paste by using ingredients mentioned here, take 10 to 12 tulsi leaves in a crusher and crush them by using water in small proportions until all the leaves turn in to paste. Mix some egg white into the mixture and apply the same on all over face and wait for the paste to do it work. Let the paste rest on the face for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off. This remedy can be used twice a week for clean and glowing skin.

Detox Body:

Take few tulsi leaves in two cups of water and boil it on low flow for 4 to 5 mins. Consume the boiled water. This remedy will help you treat clean the stomach and make it free from all toxins. The anti-oxidant properties of tulsi will help indigestion.

Weight Loss:

Prepare a Tulsi tea using the process described here. Firstly, take a few leaves of Tulsi in a bowl of water and boil it for 8 to 10 minutes. Strain the water in another bowl and lemon juice to the strained water and weight loss tea is ready. Drink the tea and let it work for you.

Fever  and Cold:

Add black pepper, clove, tulsi leaves and ginger in a saucepan and roast it for 25 to 30 secs. Add 2 cups of water in the pan, stir well and cook on a medium flame for 6 to 8 minutes while stirring whenever required. Take a deep bowl and strain the cooked mixture, add honey as per taste. Kadha is ready for serving and can be taken immediately for the best results.

Kidney Stone:

Firstly, add a few leaves of Tulsi in water and boil it for few minutes. Once the mixture is ready, add honey to the mixture and consume it to get rid of kidney stones.

Cough:

Firstly, add a few leaves of Tulsi in a cup of water add a small piece of ginger to it and boil the mixture on low flame for few minutes until the mixture quantity gets reduced to half. Consume the mixture twice a day for good results. This mixture will help reduce cough.

Immunity Booster:

Take 1-inch ginger, raw turmeric, 9 to 10 Tulsi leaves, 4 to 5 leaves of Mulethi, 4 to 5 sticks of Cinnamon, 10 to 12 black pepper seeds, 10 to 12 cloves and 8 to 10 cups of water.  Pour water in a saucepan and put all the listed ingredients in it, boil it for 50 to 60 minutes on low or medium flame. Note that the quantity will get reduced and after the mixture is ready, pour it in glass and let it get cool down. This mixture can be consumed in small quantities for multiple days. The mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for 2 days in an airtight container.
